The Conference

The Department of Geography and Resource Management (GRMD) of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is hosting the 6th international conference on sustainable tourism on 24-26 May, 2017. The theme of the conference is "Sustainable Tourism and Development".

International conferences on sustainable tourism are hosted annually since 2012. This year is a significant milestone as the United Nations (UN) General Assembly has approved the adoption of 2017 as the International year of Sustainable Tourism and Development (IYSTD). Global leaders at the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) asserts that "well-designed and well-managed tourism" contributes to various global goals of sustainable development.

In response to this unique opportunity, the 6th International Conference on Sustainable Tourism and Development seeks to foster discussions on frontier knowledge and tourism practices in coping with challenges of sustainable tourism, and to share knowledge, academic researches, effective practices, and innovative policies that support sustainable tourism development.
